Point taken.  I have one of those other three-legged supports.  It's a
Bogen, it weighs enough to stand up in a hurricane, and I've got a bad back.
At my age, and having had back surgery, I'd pay for a strong, *light*,
tripod.  Aren't we fortunate that there's something out there for each of
us.

I may even have a better idea (for me).   I've got an old Leitz table top
tripod that I use as a chestpod.  (Others make them, too.)  It works.  Maybe
I've said this before.  If so, bear with the ole guy.  But, I repeat, it
works.  It frees you from those three stakes in the ground and restores that
handheld element.
