Also, be careful about what you read in an Ansel Adams book.  It won't
necessarily apply to 35mm photography.  You can do f/64 on a 300mm lens
for the 8x10" format without the severe loss of quality we have
mentioned would happen in 35mm.  But there still is a loss in large
format work.  Since those negs don't have to be enlarged as much, it
isn't as much an issue.  Also, depth of field is hard to come by in
large format work, so there is more a need for small apertures.

In 35mm work, don't needlessly stop down beyond what you require for
depth of field.  But that is a subject in itself.
