Well for all the deals I've managed to Fang on OM gear in the last few
years,I just missed out on some real goodies. A local camera shop is
going out of business and had one of those sales where the longer you
wait the more they mark off the equipment. Anything left in June was
going to be 500ff the sticker. I had gone in around the middle of May
and checked out all the OM goodies on the shelf and had my eye on a nice
2S and a 35-70 f3.6 and 50-250 zoom. I really wanted the 35-70 and it
was in ex+ condition. I talked to Kevin the owner's son and he said to
come back in June and he'd cut me a good deal on the stuff, cause
nobody's interested in OM stuff around here.I had figured the 35-70 at
75 bucks and the 2S at 125 bucks. I thought Kevin might let them both go
for 175 maybe less. I cruise over to the store last Friday with my cash
and walked in and the shelf is bare except for a bunch of 50 1.8's. I
figured Kevin had put them back somewhere for me and I figured wrong. He
said a buyer for KEH called on them and the first things he bought were
the OM stuff he had. All the Zuiko glass except the 50 1.8's went, two
very nice winder 2's, the 2S,2N two 1N's and a beautiful black OM4 that
Kevin said ran the batteries down in a week. So if you are looking at a
OM4 from KEH beware if you get this one. I was going to give him 40
bucks for it just for parts. Anyway,I was let down to say the least and
thought I might share a story on being DeFanged for once.

later,
mike m.
