Olympus endoscopes are exclusively used at the Eye and Ear hospital in Melbourne where I work. All the microscopes we use in the pathology department are Olympus also. I have thought of taking photographs of pathology slides to include in a book.. does anyone have a microscope adapter for OM cameras they don't use... or know is available somewhere?

I just got a chance to wander round the med conference, "Digestive Disease
Week" exhibit floor in Atlanta. Olympus was represented with a vengence.
They had three huge booths altogether and must have had 30+ salesmen. I went
and asked what the percentage sales of fibre endoscopes was versus electronic
ccd/digital. They said about 80 0igital. The one hold out area was some
smaller diameter units which are still only available as optical. I asked
about what OM adapters were still available for the optical units but nobody
really knew, and I was reffered to my local sales rep! They even had some
digital cameras on display but no OM's. Fuji and Pentax also had booths but
these were quite small in comparison. It would be interesting knowing what
percentage of Olympus's business is medical? It seemed pretty clear they are
still the leader in this area. It is also pretty clear having OM's available
is of no value as the scopes are going all digital.

I am still on the look out for a cheap endoscope adapter so that I can use
my old solid scope on my OM. Anybody have an unwanted adapter?

Some of the newer style endoscopes are quite interesting: They are making
zoom lens units as well as binocular units. It is fascinating seeing just how
small these electro-optic units are, since they must fit everything in the
tip of the scope and share the space with lumens for manipulators, flush
tubes,light fibres etc.
