I too have sold to Canadians several times without problems. I only
recently heard of the class codes from this list and my two latest
customers were not aware. This guy is an idiot. First, he does not realise
that emails can render a simple statement offensive if poorly expressed and
secondly, he thinks he lives in the greatest country on earth when we all
know that the rest of us do. :-)
A Canadian buyer should be informed of the class codes and asked, politely,
to supply the appropriate one. If they can't, then they should be informed
that various import duties may be payable and will be their responsibility.
Simple.
In fact, I think I'll draft a statement that covers all such eventualities
for future sales to anywhere.
Tell he is being a little rude - politely - and that he doesn't need to shout!
