Mike,

I hope you know that we are all collectively and secretly hiring a hit man to
whack you and take your goodies. :-o

I bought my SP 80-200/2.8 from a working pro (Nik*n user) and it came
with (allbeit foggy) a Tamron SP 2X converter. This was before I had the
good fortune to have my big Zuiko dreams come true. I tried a few shots
with the 80-200 W/SP 2X but ditched the SP 2X as soon as I noticed it
was foggy. No conclusive results. Supposedly this is a decent workable
combination so I went out and bought another Tamron SP 2X converter. I
also already had a Tamron SP 140F (1.4X) which does seem to work well
with the 80-200. When I got both Zuiko converters (2XA and 1.4XA) I sold
the Tamron 2X without really trying it because I felt that carrying 4
converters was just too much and opted to keep the Zuiko for the very
rare occasions I am willing to sacrifice optical performance for reach
(350/2.8 W/2XA becomes a 700/5.6 but acording to Gary's test results is
less than steller). I carry the Tamron SP 1.4X converter because the
Zuiko 1.4XA will not fit the Tamron 80-200/2.8 (interesting that it
apparently fits the Tokina 80-200/2.8). FWIW, I find myself using the
350/2.8 with the 1.4XA as much, if not more, than without.

An intersting aside, I have not yet had an occasion that required the
80-200 to be extended but can see some rare occasions I may do so. When
I need reach beyond 200mm I don't hesitate to reach for the big white
one, and the monopod.
