The Tamron SP 90mm f2.5 Macro is also "at least" the equal of the
Vivitar and sports the Adaptall2 system for versatility among lens
mounts.  Also around the same price as the Vivitar.  Several versions of
the Tamron (49 & 52(or 55? filter size), early ones seem to be built
better but only went to 1:2 without an additional tube, the later ones
went to 1:1 by themselves but were made of plastic.
