: i noticed that tele-converters cannot be used with most of zuiko
: zooms;do you know about third party brand-converters whom my 75-150 could
: work with?

Most third party teleconverters will connect with this lens and so will the
Olympus 2xA.

With the Olympus converter you can distinguish three types of Zuiko lenses:

1 - matched lenses - lenses that have been designed to work with the converter
to give a good (although not superb) image with Olympus' own quality standards.
These are the 100mm/F2.8, 135mm/F2.8, 135mm/F3.5, 200mm/F4, 200mm/F5 and
100-200mm/F5 zoom.

2 - non-matched lenses that will still connect - these are lenses that have not
been designed to work with the 2xA. The combination of these lenses with the 2xA
is not recommended by Olympus, does not fall into Oly's quality standards, but
nothing stops you from still using it. No harm can be done. Many of us have for
instance produced great images with the 300/4.5+2xA. The 75-150/4 also
physically connects with the 2xA. You'll get a very slow 300mm/F8 lens at the
tele side but the results may still be acceptable.

3 - non-matched lenses that will not connect because of tabs on the lens mount,
or because the rear lens protrudes. The standard lenses and wide angle lenses
belong to this category; you should never try to connect such combinations
because it may damage the lens rear element and/or the converter's front
element. Most off-brand teleconverters have a front element that lays deeper
than the Oly 2xA giving them a larger set of connectable lenses.

Although most converters including the Oly 2xA might work, I'ld recommend
looking for an off-brand 100-300mm or 60-300mm zoom (Tokina, Vivitar, Panagor,
Tamron etc) if this is a range you're interested in. You'll probably get a
better image quality and also a faster (F5.6) lens.

hnz (someone had to do it;)
