That's about right, Dirk. It's really only about 8 mos., normally. From
about the second week of October until the month of June, or sometimes, up to
the 4th of July, in a normal year. Overcast, drizzly "dew". Of course,
there are magnificent sunny "breaks" in there every once in awhile, but it
tends to get some down (esp. California transplants, who we wish would all
move back to CA). We are a great bookstore and coffee area. Even chains
like Dennys serve good coffee here -- or else.

There are places on the "west side" that get little rain (Whidbey Island,
Sequim on the Olympic Peninsula, and the San Juan Islands), but the rest of
the west side pretty much "gets it": East of the Cascades, it is much dryer
and sunnier (I grew up in N.C. WA, in the "Sunshine City").

THIS winter is weird. Very little rain OR drizzle. Pretty dry and lots of
sun. I can see Mt. Rainier on more days than not, and some days all the
Cascade range from Mt. Baker to Glacier Peak to Rainier (there is another
hundred miles of Cascades to the south of Rainier, but it can't be seen from
the Seattle area unless you get up high -- Rainier is 14,410 feet, and kinda
predominates the view to the south). Sunsets in winter are often
spectacular. Often wish I had a camera with me as I "combat commute". Will
have to do something about that.

Yeah, it rains here all the time. Stay away. Far, far, away. Or, like
Oregonians say, come visit, but then please go back to wherever you came from.

Rich
