You'll gain much more than an extra f-stop. What is the speed of your standard
zoom lens? F4? If you get the Zuiko 50mm/F1.4 you'll gain *three* stops
(1.4/2/2.8/4), and with the 55/1.2 or 50/1.2 even more. This is a huge gain in
available light photography, allowing faster shutter speeds; it also gives a
*much* brighter viewfinder, and allows you to play with minimal DOF just like
you're using a tele lens.

Apart from that, you'll get a better image quality (less distortion, higher
resolution), a closer focusing distance (45 cm), a lens that is probably much
smaller and lightweight (230g.), a non-rotating front ring (some zoom lenses
have a rotating one, very clumsy with some filters) and last but not least a
much more efficient lens hood (unless you have the Zuiko 35-70mm/F3.6 which is
the only Oly zoom with an efficient zooming hood).
