Yes, they do.  Thanks, Clint.  I didn't mention it in my post but that's
actually the first thing I thought of. I considered that the foam might
be getting sticky and holding onto the mirror. I ran a thin knife blade
along the full length of the front edge and then applied enough pressure
so that I could see a bit of daylight.  Unfortunately, the foam is not
what's holding it up.

Somebody suggested a CLA and that's probably what's in order now,
especially since I accidentally released the shutter curtain tensioning
springs poking around under the bottom plate.  I just couldn't resist
releasing those two little ratchets and was surprised at the "sproing"
sound they made.  Took about 10 seconds for it to finally sink in what
those ratchets and springs were for. Verified immediately when the
shutter curtains no longer closed.  :)
