Ah. I am a chocoholic, to the despair of my physician. Toblerone, of
course, the dark milk version, of course. I can recall with some
amusement that once, when in Sao Paolo for a conference, I yearned for
some chocolate, and found a huge specimen in a pharmacy at something
like five dollars [a lot at that time -- 1972]. I retired to my hotel
room and pigged out. It was delightful. Though some chocolate comes from
Brazil, they export it for extra income. There are some seven grades.
Only the last and least desirable is left for domestic consumption. I
tried one. As I sat on a park bench and munched on a small piece, I
found two youngsters ten feet away watching every jaw movement. The
chocolate was so awful I had no hesitation in giving it to the two
lads, who leapt for it as if they were hungry dogs. Innocence is really
bliss.
