Hello everybody,
Finally got some spare time during these Christmas
hols and managed to put a few of my Orlando trip pics
up. But first let me offer my heartfelt thanks to
Mike, Sam, Chuck, Jim, Chris, Doris, Susan, and
anybody else I might have missed for the excellent
advice and tips provided.

To summarize the trip in a nutshell, had a nice time ?
not really a photographic trip, but did come back with
a few pictures I liked. It was just the two of us (me
and my better half ? no kids yet) so we decided to
adopt a theme-park commando role and we covered six
parks each of the six days we were there. Based on the
list advice ? and good advice it was - I carried the
bare minimum stuff ? an OM2000, the 35-70 zoom, a
50/1.8, and also decided to throw in the 75-150 in the
backpack ? glad I did ? and a couple of close up
filters. (Mike ? thanks for the backpack advice).

Most of the shooting had to be done straight from the
hip ? no time for changing lenses or composing, and I
am not too good at that. At the Kilimanjaro Safari at
the Animal kingdom, the ride was jerky and bumpy and
the driver did not stop for photographs. It was not a
particularly sunny day, and to avoid camera shake I
was shooting at 1/500 or 1/1000 wide open at f4. (I
was using the 75-150 and 400 ASA Kodak print film).
Animals would appear out of anywhere, so to get a good
shot you needed fast reflexes. With the mix of light
and shade, by the time I could focus and verify the
exposure the shot was gone. I have been reasonably
happy with manual focus all this while, but this is
the first time I felt the need to move on to auto
focus. With auto focus and auto exposure, all I would
have to do is compose and press the shutter. I have
included a couple of the Kilimanjaro safari shots, and
the camera shake and lack of depth of field is
apparent. But till the time I get some real African
safari shots, I am quite content with these.

I would really really appreciate a feedback or any
comments on these snaps. I would like it if you could
let me know which photographs you liked best (if any
!!) The best feedback I have received from a list
member for one of my ADITL shots was ?wish I had taken
that photograph?. Would really make my day if you
feel the same way about any of these snaps. Please
feel free to reply offlist, if you prefer.

All the snaps are handheld and most of them are with
the OM2000 and the 35-70 that comes with it (I
understand this lens is rated very poorly in the Zuiko
arsenal of lenses). The butterfly snaps are with the
+3 and +2 close up filters screwed on the 50/1.8.
Photographs developed at Price Club 1 hour lab and
scanned at 150 dpi. That?s as basic as you can get.
;-)
And to top it all, I bought and processed the film in
Canada, which means they went thru the airport X-rays
a couple of time before processing....

Thanks in advance for your comments,
Arnab.
