<< Hi! -greetings to all. I have been an Olymous owner since my first
OM 1 back
in 1977-last week I picked up my biggest dream-a Zuiko 350mm f2.8 lens.
It is
marvelous and a work of art!
I will be testing it against a Canon FD 400mm f2.8, Tamron 400mm f4,
Tamron
300mm f2.8 lens-early edition. I am sure the Tamron 400mm f4 will stay
no
matter as I love the lens. ..
My list to Santa is what Olympus doesn't have - a 600mm Zuiko ED f4, a
70-200mm f2.8 Zuiko, and a Om 4 HiTi.(high speed 1/8000th sec shutter).
Maybe Olmpus will come out with a retro rangefinder with mini Zuiko's as
well
: )
I have watched in the wings and am glad to finally speak out-I LOVE
OLYMPUS! >>

Welcome to the list! Congratulations on the 350/2.8 as well! I am also
fortunate to have recently obtained one (thank you again Tom) and it
was/is my biggest dream lens too and has been for a very long time.

Look for tests on the 350/2.8 from Gary Reese soon as he has recently
finished testing it. I am interested how your tests against that list of
great glass you mentioned work out, please keep us posted on your
results.

Note to Santa, the closest thing to give John in place of a vapor-lens
Zuiko 70-200/2.8 is the very real and reasonably priced used Tamron SP
80-200/2.8 LD. I recently got one of these based on test results and
reccomendations from folks here on this list and can't say enough good
things about it. Yes, it is big and heavy but compared to a 350/2.8 it
is tiny and light ;-) and the results it gets are stunning.

Can't help on the 600/4 but with a 1.4XA your 350/2.8 becomes a 490/4
which is getting there. As far as the OM4HiTi you'll have to wait for
the E4Ti (mythical evolution of the E10) some of us are waiting for. As
a racing photographer who seldom shoots faster than 1/500th I'm a little
confused as to why such insanely high shutter speeds are required. If ya
really need em, the Pentax PZ-1P goes to 1/6000 and is pretty cheap to
boot.
