[OM] How do YOU use spot meter on OM4 (ti)?

This topic has been hinted at, yet it seems like nobody wants to jump into
the void. So I'll broach the subject. How do you get the most out of the
sophisticated metering controls on your OM4, OM4ti etc. ???

Personally, I waited _months_ for an official OM-4 manual, eagerly awaiting
instruction on how the multi-spot metering capability was just going to
blow away the simple spot metering of my OM-2000. When I did finally get a
badly done copy of a very rudimentary manual, I was underwhelmed. In actual
use, I find that either I just use a single spot meter, or I come up with
my own average. I'm wondering if that's really any different than an
'averaging meter'. My limited and amateurish trials would certainly not
suggest much advantage over my mainstay OM-1 which lacks spot meter, but
can handle simple backlit situations by simply opening up two stops. Do you
routinely use your OM-4 (ti) controls for situations other than simple
backlighting? If, so, for what? and in what manner?

I'm looking forward to being taught a trick or two by the folks on this list.
Thanks,
Mike Swaim
