The following is a goodly chunk of a current auction. Note the pathetic attempt
to give the item's defects a positive spin. Note also that although this lens
was very successful, it is not a "perrenial" best-seller -- it's long
discontinued.
"This is the legendary first edition of the Vivitar Series One 70-210mm F3.5
zoom lens. Beside[s] the fast fixed aperture of F3.5, this lens offers great
macro focusing. The stunning sharpness and contrast delivered by this lens have
kept it a perrenial [sic] best seller ever since its introduction.
"Optically this lens is in awesome condition. The exterior is in excellent
shape, but does show modest [sic], careful wear. The lens and diaphragm work
great. This lens fits all Olympus OM system cameras."
Other than no wear, what could be better than "careful" wear? No doubt the
owner applied a rat-tail file with great precision.
