Report in Leica Photography 8/2000: Leica will develop no further SLR
models. The SLR line is planned to be transferred into digital; a
Leica digital SLR is planned for the next Photokina (2002). According
to the Leica management, the traditional camera market is well
covered with the M6-family, whereas the SLR lineup will only have a
future in combination with digital technology. Hard words. Leica
of course is in a special situation, and the R6-2 might stay as long
as there is demand. Nevertheless a small revolution there in Solms.
