What I was able to find is here under Energizer's Tech Info:

anual.htm

I am wondering if Giles' experience wasn't one of his computer(s)
overcharging and maintaining overcharge conditions, which apparently are
the downfall of NiMH. From the discussion in these technical application
notes, it appears that detecting full charge and/or overcharge is more
difficult with NiMH than with NiCd's. Anyway, the above is Energizer's
techno-babble about their NiMH batteries.
