Yep, mine makes the same "eep eep" sound, not as loud as the whine from a
T-32.  I believe it's the HV inverter electronics inside the grip to pump
HV to the flash, and it should go on when you turn the flash on, and stop
when you turn the flash off.  The BG-2 puts about 220V or so to the "T"
series flash through the three-pin power connector on the shoe.
