Subject: [OM] Help with Olympus 35-S?

Posted this on dejanews; hoping to get some more opinions here:

I've inherited an Olympus 35-S from my uncle, who gave it to me only because it's broken!

I'm not sure what's wrong with it, and whether to save it or sell it.

This is what's wrong with it:

When I hit the shutter button, the shutter doesn't snap like on my Pentax K-1000, but it makes a sound like a wind-up toy winding down. The shutter doesn't seem to move.

Now I've never owned a rangefinder camera, so maybe this is normal -- but I don't think so, because obviously, my cheap uncle gave it to me!

So my first question is, can anyone tell me what's wrong with it?

Next, how much will it cost? I went to the very reputable Pro Camera Reapir in New York City, and they said they couldn't fix it. Too old, they said -- no parts.

I checked in with the next best thing, Essex Camera in New Jersey, and they said it would cost about $70. So my biggest question is, is this worth it?

I looked on ebay, and Olympus 35-S's in perfect condition were only going for $70, and broken ones, for $30.

But this leads me to my last question: I think my Olympus 35-S was different that the ones I saw on ebay, and if it's more of a collector's item, it may very well be worth it for me to sell it.

To be specific, it's says Olympus 35-S on the top of the body, but it also has a "Tower" logo -- like the washington monument in a triangle.

The lens also looks different from those sold on ebay. It's says it's a Olympus G. Zuiko 1:1.8 f=4.2cm.

So my questions again:
Is there anything wrong with my camera? what is it?
Is my Olympus 35-S a special version?
At a cost of $70, should I fix it, or sell it?

Thanks for your help!
