This modifications are original, not done while serviceing. AFAIK
serviced cameras (older OM-1/2) were not altered.

It is the original aperiance, as sold by Olympus.

For a time all OM cameras sold in Europe had this badge. Lens and
camera boxes had an orange sticker with the VSOE writing, sealing it.

AFAIK "n" and OM10 Models no longer had the VSOE badge on the 
outside.
