I think I have mentioned this before, but both the Tamron 180 mm/2.5 and
the 80-200 mm/2.8 lenses got very fine test reports in the German
Fotomagazin some years ago. Both got 9 point out of 10 in optical
performance, which is more than most lenses.

Compared to the Zuiko 180 mm/2.8, the Tamron has internal focusing, which
is an advantage for quick focusing on moving objects.

The Tamron 500 mm mirror lens is a fine lens, too. In a Danish test of
mirror lenses some years ago, which I can't find at the moment, the Zuiko
500 mm and the Tamron ended slightly after the winner, which was one of the
other big brands.
The Tamron mirror lens has the advantage of using small filters at the back
end of the lens, whereas the Zuiko uses big filters (80 mm?) at the front.

BTW, the Tokina 80-200 mm/2.8 got 9,4 points in the German test and thus
seems to be at least as good as the Tamron. I have no test of a Tokina 180
mm/2.8.
