Thanks to everyone for sharing how to use a polarizer filter. Maybe I
was not clear in the previous request for clarification: The emphasis
was on the word "QUICKLY". I know how to use a polarizing filter, I
have both a linear one and a circular one. I do use them once in a
while to enhance the blue sky color saturation and to filter out
reflections (mostly in shop windows).

However, my question has to do with the recommendation "focus first,
then mount the polarizing filter". I really don't know how that can
be done quickly (again, without changing the focus while mounting the
filter) when one is pressed to take a picture quickly. How many of
you actually follow this process???

I also appreciate all the comments about "take the time and enjoy
taking the picture". I try to do that when I am on my own time. But
sometimes when traveling with a group, it is not possible to take
the time to take the picture (this is what I meant by "general travel
photography"). The situations almost call for a good P&S camera, which
I have so far managed to avoid because I already own a great OM camera
with some great lenses.
