Warren,

The Leica M6 meters a spot that depends on the focal length. The white spot extends about 2/3 of the vertical dimension of a 35mm frame painted on the first shutter curtain. A silicon photocell reads light reflected from that spot. I don't think a Leica would be an economical way to go though.

The Leica CL has a smaller swing-arm metering cell, that might be a thought. Coupled with a 90/2.8, it would be pretty compact, but not 1-2 degrees.

Also, the Minolta Spotmeter M that I have is VERY light. That coupled with a P&S would probably fit the bill nicely You could look for one of those or the similarly small Pentax spotmeter.

Along the subject of light meters, I posted a query on PhotoNet about the
lightest 35mm camera with a 1 or 2 degree spot meter that you could use for
taking snapshots and also to use as a light meter for 4x5 or med. format
photography. No one could come up with a camera lighter than the OM-2000 and
a 135/3.5 or 200/5.

Does anyone know of any others out there? The Leica M6 has a spot meter but I
don't think its a 1 or 2 degree, more like 6 degrees.
