Gary (ballerina of prose) Schloss is back!

>Well, imagine my shock, SHOCK!!!, when I stumble upon the following:
>>Gary Schloss... shameless... commercial... cunning... disguised
>>plugs... new ploys...

If we knew what it took to bring your shameless posts back, we would have
written this disparage earlier.

To bring you up on things in your absence:

Vert is on the run and in our last cliffhanger being stalked by Nikkie
Nikon--a very pretty rangefinder that actually is a hired "cleaner". Will
Vert survive the flight? What secrets does Nikkie have? Will the flight
attendents serve coffee?

I come and go from the list based on household demands. Just got back from
a mental-health trip to South Dakota and Wyoming. Didn't work, I'm still
going crazy.

The list, as Joel Wilcox said, has had a huge turnover of active
participants. GMA, I'm told, does scan the digests once in a while but
otherwise has dropped out of sight. One too many SUV threads I guess.
Speaking of SUVs--DON'T!

The list used to be this quaint little community of nuts and specialists
that included some mighty fine folks like Michael Covington. The names
have changed through the years, but not only are there more of them now,
but the diversity has increased and I think we Americans are now the
minority on the list. Collectors have taken the OM world by storm and you
need to install an alarm system in your camera bag to keep the EBAY crazies
at bay. Were running something like 2.3 million posts a day to the list.

It used to be a rare person who had an F2 Zuiko, now EVERYBODY has them.
(I don't, but I do still have the 35/shift). Doris (Dumpster diver) Fang
still makes us green with envy but has turned into a Leica snob. :) And our
good friend, Joel (program mode) Wilcox has been scarfing up every
operational OM-2S this side of Africa.

Finally, the hit list of what's currently hot and what's not and current
flamebait:

Hot: Ebay, 35-80/2.8, 100/2, 90/2, 50/1.2, 28/3.5, OM-4Ti, Delta and
Kodachrome 64.

Not: Ebay, Shift lenses, 50/1.8 (finally!), OM-1 (vibration), and Velvia.

Flamebait: Ebay, Sports cars, Ebay, fast driving, Ebay, slow driving in
passing lanes, Ebay, Disney-chromes, Ebay, SUVs, Ebay, young
whippersnappers vs old geezers, Ebay, presidental politics (although Bob
Dole is always fair game by all sides), Ebay, contest rules and last but
not least--Ebay.
