Chip,

What lab processed your K64 slides? Where did you purchase your film?
I've found the Kodalux lab in New Jersey (only one still in operation)
to be quite excellent, at least of the K25 & K64 I've sent them. The
only other lab I've had experience with lately is A&I in Los Angeles.
They are sometimes not so great. However, it is just a better deal to
just get those mailers with the film. Oh, one other thing ... what kind
of lighting were you using. If natural lighting .... was it outdoors
... what was the position of the sun and what was the color composition
around your subjects. Was it mixed lighting?
I used to shoot with the Kodachromes back in the '80s almost
exclusively. Everything was sent to the old Page Mill Rd. Kodak
facility in Palo Alto. They were tops. In the early '90's I had a bad
experience with with A&I (I think). And I quit using the Kodachromes
until several months ago. Lately my results with this film has been
incredible. I find it by far the easiest to scan. An it's ability to
resist fade and breakdown over the years is legendary. ES100VS is great
but I can usually get as much color out of K25 but the color depth and
perception of this color depth of K25 is just the best I can ever
expect. I hope that NJ lab keeps up the quality. Kodachromes are by
far the most difficult to process. There is no tolerance for error what
so ever with these films. I have not done anything but controlled
lighting with these films lately. But I assume they are is good as they
ever were at absorbing color in natural light.

On a slightly different note. Has anyone had a chance to check out
the new Epson 1270 photo printer with fade resistant inks and papers?
If you were waiting for a dream come true photo printer, I was told that
this is it.
