Someone asked recently about mounting Zuiko lenses on EOS bodies.
Apparently Tomoko is off-list right now and has sent me her instructions
for me to pass along...
quote
1. This adapter allows the mounting of the OM lenses on the EOS bodies
with the EF mount.
2. Mount the lens on the adapter by aligning the red dot on the lens and
the red dot on the OM mount side of the adapter and rotating the adapter
counterclockwise looking from the lens side.
Mount the adapter-attached lens on the EOS body by aligning the red dot on
the body side of the adapter and the lens-mounting mark on the camera
body. Rotate the lens clockwise until you hear a click.
3. With the OM lens mounted, it is possible to use manual and
aperture-priority automatic exposure metering mode. Set the F value to 1.0
when using the exposure meter on the body in these two exposure
modes. (When using the following EOS bodies, it is not necessary to set
the F value to 1: EOS-1, 1N, 1NRS; EOS-5 (J) EOS-A2(E) (A), EOS1000 (J,O)
EOS Rebel (A), EOS100P, EOS KISS (J), EOS Rebel XS (A), EOS 500 (O))
Note: It is not possible to use this adapter on the following EOS bodies:
EOS700, 750, and 850 which do not include manual or aperture-priority auto
exposure modes.
Depending on the combinations of the bodies and the focusing screens used,
it is necessary to compensate exposure. See the attached table.
4. When removing the adapter from the lens, rotate the lens until the red
dot on the lens comes to alignment with the red dot on the adapter while
pushing in the lens release button. It is possible to remove the lens with
the adapter attached by pushing the lens lock button on the EOS body and
rotate the lens counterclockwise.
5. This adapter is set for manual aperture stopping at the time of
shipping, but it is possible to change this setting to preset aperture. In
order to set preset aperture, remove the lever with two screws from the
adapter. It is adviced that in order not to lose the lever with two small
screws, reattach the lever upside down. This way the lever would not
interfere with the aperture
It is convenient to use manual aperture stopping with the telephoto lens
since these lenses are often used with wide open aperture. It is effective
to use preset aperture with wide angle lenses, in which case the aperture
is quite often stopped down or with macro photography in which stopped down
aperture is used. With preset aperture, it is always possible to look at
the viewfinder at wide open aperture, but it is necessary to push the DOF
preview button before taking any exposure since the aperture diaphragm
would not stop down automatically upon shutter release.
With preset aprture, it is recommended that the exposure mode be set to
aperture-priority auto exposure since under this exposure mode, exposure
will be adjusted even when you forget to push the DOF button.
6. This adapter is designed to withstand the weight of super telephoto
lenses, but please avoid the situation in which bending or rotating forces
are excerted upon the adapter. Never run or jump down from a high place
while hanging the camera with a heavy lens attached on the shoulder by a
neck strap.
7. When you attach the adapter to the teleconverters or the extension
rings for the EOS, it is possible that the body would not work
well. Please avoid this usage of the adapter in conjunction with the EOS
teleconverters and extension rings.
8. When you use this adapter with the EOS 5 (EOS A2/A2E), the depth of
focus looks deeper than real because the viewfinder has a high transmission
coefficient. You need to be careful to focus manually.
In order to find the focusing point, you need to set the intermediate point
between the first point of focus and the first point of defocus, which
should be the point of best focus. Therefore you need to look for the best
focus by turning the lens helicoid left and right.
9. When you use the Zuiko Macro 135mm F4.5 with preset aperture, it is
necessary to push the DOF button even when the aperture is set for wide open.
