Gwynne,
The button is to trip the shutter when you have a Winder on the camera.
The M Grip Cord is a short (~4") cord that connects from the Bounce Grip 2
to the Winder.
This way you can hold the entire set up in your right hand, focusing with
the left.
When you're ready to take the photo, just squeeze the BG2 button.

I recently bought a used (no manual) Power Bounce Grip 2. Just under the
locking lever there is a button and beside the button there is a small jack
labeled M Grip Cord.  What are these for?
