=========================
I use Mirror Lock-up when photographing through my telescope. This
minimizes vibrations. Same principle applies when using long
telephoto-lenses.
=========================

That's some incredibly fast film if mirror lockup has an effect on
shots through a telescope..

mirror lockup or prefire only matter for shutter speeds in the
2 seconds to 1/60 second and especially in the 1/4 to 1/15 second
range. It takes about 1/30 a second for the vibrations to
move through the camera and get started, so faster shutter speeds
have finished the exposure before the vibrations get going,
and they will have completely died down by 1/4 to 1/2 a second.
with slide film, the vibrations won't register anything for exposures
longer than about 2 seconds, if that.

You'd need mirror lockup for shots of the moon, but stars are much too
dim to matter unless you are using super speed film.
