I think the real strong point of this lens is it's contrast performance.
At apertures equivelent with those of the other non-macro 50mm lenses I
have used (f1.4 SC, f18 MC - f2 - ) it is superior in sharpness, especially
in the corners. However it's ability to render subtle tones and shades of
colour is it's forte. This realy shows in pictures with complex shaded
features like clouds. Clouds in particular seem more three dimensional to
me because more of their subtle and complex shadings are resolved. The
bokeh with this lens is creamy smooth.
I rate this as one of the finest Zuikos
