I recall that when CD-ROM first came out as a digital archive solution, I was in
the USAF and the milspec called for duping the ROM's before 10 years of aging. I
believe the problem was that CD ROM's plastic covering delaminate
eventually...probably sooner than 1000's of years anyway.
