I've had the good fortune to spend some time in Yorkshire, and even on the
ground it's a pretty nice bit of country.;-) Loved nearby Derbyshire as
well.

Best of all in my remembrance was hiking through the Lake District and up
Helvelyn (sp?), which tops out at about 3000 ft or so I believe. It was a
good trek. I learned somehow that Wordsworth had made the climb in his
70's. Altitude is not an issue, but it's not an easy, Dantesque switchback
hike: rather, more or less straight from bottom to up. When I came to know
Wordsworth's poetry, I could never dissociate those memories from his
imagery or his thought. A photographer's poet. I felt my kindred spirits
draw me in all across the north of England (which is more than I can say
for the keepers of the hostels I frequented, oh well).

No one in the UK need feel bested by any other scenery on the globe. And if
you don't like the scenery in one place, you can simply go 20 miles and
it's all different.

Before I close, Chris, please promise us all that you'll not go berserk in
the future. Sounds like you could do a lot of damage.<G>
