I'll never forget the time I was summiting Everest in the first no
oxygen solo nude boxing gloves and roller skates ascent. I reached
around for trusty OM1 when...Damn! the strap broke. As I saw the
camera skittling over the ice towards an enormous cornice I knew I
had to make a choice: Play it safe ane let the camera go, or SAVE MY
OLY!

Naturally, I opted to save my Om-1, and dove after it, unfortunately
breaking the cornice and sending the camera and I both hurtling
towards the large shelf 1500 feet below. As luck would have it, the
strap slowed the camera down and I was able to grab it just in time
to snap a few action shots of snow falling off the cornice above
before the camera and I hit the ledge.

Naturally, I was killed on impact. Dead as a doornail. But the same
OM-1continues to take pictures to this day.

Wanna hear the one about the time it took a bullet while covering the
South Central LA riots?
