I seem to remember George's post dealt with IR where exposure requires a
fair bit of trial and error? In any case he probably used manual exposure. I
don't remember whether he discussed this issue for OTF auto : but with the
b/w film and using OTF exposure the filter on the rails operates twice for
the exposure measurement (at least at shutter speeds <1/60) but only once for
the film. This means you must dial in a filter correction to increase film
speed to make up for added light attenuation. Having to do this is a big
nuisiance as you then must check that the shutter speed is <1/60. (At high
shutter speeds the filter is in measurement only once! ) If you use the
filter up front on the lens everything is taken care of automatically at all
speeds.
