Hello Charles,
thanks for your welcome.
You quoted and asked:

usefullness. >>

That Tokina lens is a really nice lens IMO, pricewise especially, because
you can get it on the used market for no money.
It is a 3,5-4,5-lens with close-focus-setting, very versatile in use.
It is very well built (BTW I use it up to now with no problems concerning
the memory-clear-button on the lens-mount of the 4 Ti) like all the
end-of-seventies-early-80ies(?)-ATX-series-lenses, durability is
excellent, all settings work like new.
Of course it has nothing of the charming appearance of compact OM-lenses;
front lens is large, the usual compromises about lens-hoods occur; no
adaption of the pretty OM rubber-design like Soligor did. Front lens is
rotating, so the use of polarizers needs special care.
There is not any concern about reliability - my note about reliability
was mistakable, it was only aimed at OM, well, of course only from my
personal experiences esp. with the OM-bodies since OM2 onwards.
The quality of pictures - well, that is of course highly depending on
your needs; I did not compare the results with other competitors when I
bought it. But FWIW I usually have the lens with me on vacancies, as well
as my few fixed Zuikos (2,8/28; 2,8, 35; 1,4/50; 2,8/100; 3,5/135;
4/200), use it when too lazy for carrying equipment around and find
myself happy with the results, esp. mixing Tokina- with Zuiko-slides
without any remarkable complaints.
I would buy that lens again every day.

Very best regards
