The OM-2S has the same kind of shoe as the OM-4T with the "high-lip
profile." My Sunpak flash and Duo-Sync cords work more poorly with the
OM-2S (in just the manner that you describe) than with the detachable
shoes.  I solved the problem with the Sunpak by building up a thickness on
the top of the flash foot.  I'm interested in whether you made brass shims
out of some kind of foil or what.  My concern would be that the profile of
the foot would become too great very quickly if the brass were much thicker
than a very thin foil.  On the other hand working with thin brass would be
more positive and predicable than just trying to build up layers of glue.
