Gary,

Many thanks for the lens tests and the timely Tamron 400 results! The Tamron 400 data came just as I was pondering my packing list for the next safari. So, in goes the Zuiko 1.4x-A, out goes the Tamron 1.4x! Now I have to decide whether to keep the Tamron TC or cast it out on the eBay. The results also made me think about my choice of apertures. If you spend the bucks on a fast lens, one tends to use it wide open. Looks like there is good reson to find a way to shoot stopped down more than I have.

All of the above points out the practical use of such testing. Thanks again.

Gary Edwards

I found time to post most of the lenses I recently tested. Besides the 40mm
f/2 Zuiko and 400mm f/4 Tamron SP, the site at:

http://members.aol.com/olympusom/lenstests/default.htm

now includes:

Novoflex 400mm f/5.6 with 1.4x Olympus Teleconverter
50mm f/1.4 Canon FD
28mm f/2.8 Zuiko (2nd sample)
400mm f/4 Tamron SP with Tamron 1.4X SP
400mm f/4 Tamron SP with Olympus 1.4X Teleconverter*
180mm f/2.8 Zuiko with Olympus 1.4X Teleconverter*
Tamron SP 350mm f/5.6 mirror
600mm f/6.5 Zuiko retest
35mm f/2.8 Zuiko MC
Canon 100mm f/4 Macro

The lenses with a * are exceptional performers. You'll find some interesting
comments among those, esp. in how the 180mm f/2.8 can perform better with a
1.4X teleconverter.

Sorry that Trellix still isn't taking a Page Header and that my hypertext
links don't always come out blue.
