Got an interesting used lens hood in the mail today for the Zuiko 35-105mm
f/3.5-4.5 zoom lens. I had not seen this type of lens hood before.

1.  Type:  heavy (non-collapsible) rubber; screws on to 55mm lens ring;
metal ring with threads also contains a filter of some type.
2. Markings (on rubber hood): "Olympus" on outside of the rubber hood
near metal ring and "35-105mm f/3.5~4.5 Japan" 180 degrees around the
outside near the metal ring. *No* Olympus part number (did not come in the
Olympus original packaging).
3. Unknown feature: Small chrome threaded stud on outside of metal ring
with small internally threaded hole.

Questions (hopefully someone can answer):
a. What type of filter is embedded in the ring of this hood (optical
glass, UV, Skylight 1A)?
b. What is the purpose of the internally threaded stud? Does this allow
using a tool of some type to help get it off the lens ring if it is on too
tight?

Also thought the keeper of the lens hood list might want this information
as the hood cited there is a slip-on clamp type and is interchangeable with
the hood for the 35-70 f/4 Zuiko zoom. Unfortunately there is no part
number marked on this hood.

Thanks,
-- John
