Ah, but there is a way. It involves a standard photoflood, a piece of 18%
grey cloth, and a grey cat with black stripes.
Method: Seat cat on cloth. Backlight cat with photoflood. Take picture,
including photoflood in frame. On resulting transparency, observe contrast
between gray and black stripes on cat.
