We continue to see letters that are in both plain text and HTML format. Since
many users don't have mail readers that interpret HTML, the HTML version is
unnecessary.

I recently switched from Netscape Navigator 3.04 to Netscape Communicator 4.5.
The following should be of use to those using this product, and might help those
who do not.

Open the Messenger screen and click the inbox icon. Go to the Edit menu and
select the Preferences command. Expand the Mail & Newsgroups category and click
on Formatting.

You have two choices. One is to switch from the HTML editor to the plain-text
editor (upper box). The other is to select one of the options that does not
automatically send HTML-formatted letters.

If you want to keep HTML formatting for general use, you can override it for
specific messages by selecting the Options panel of the message composition
window. This panel is selected by clicking the third tab to the left of the
addressing area at the top. (It has a box with little check marks and displays
the balloon help Message Sending Options when you hold the mouse cursor over
it.)
