If you do not have experience with a particular film and meter combination,
you must run a test roll to see what the actual exposure index is for you.
Any film/meter combination needs the same consideration if critical exposure
is what you want.
Studio photographers who buy film in batches, test the new batch of the same
film type, as do other professionals and "exposure purists".
If you buy a few rolls at the drug store or local camera mart this may be
impractical
and a ballpark index for that film would have to do.
