It certainly is. Olympus (UK)'s service has nose-dived in the last five
years - they used to respond to requests for assistance and odd spare parts
very promptly and sent me odd replacement screws and such without charge,
but when I contacted them recently about the failure of my AZ-1's transport
mechanism, they made it clear that they are not interested in anything over
twelve months old. They sent me a list of approved service centres and
suggested I contacted my 'local' one - when there isn't one on the list
within 60 miles of here in England's second city!

Back in the '60s, when such as C*n*n, N*k*n and P*n*a*x were imported by
companies who could be most charitably described as wholesalers, Olympus
cameras of the day were distributed in the UK by David Williams, who built
up an excellent reputation for service. When he died, Olympus (UK) was
formed with an efficient service department, demonstrating that they alone
of Japanese camera manufacturers showed any interest in the well being of
their UK users. The other major manufacturers followed suit years later.
