        I don't know the answer but there are a few things to consider:

*       The meter circuit used for the viewfinder display is essentially
independent of that used for TTL auto.  The one used for the viewfinder
display I believe is very similar (the same ?) as the OM-1.
*       The meter pattern will be different depending on the shutter speed,
if the meter cell is reading mainly from the shutter curtain or the film.
*       The pattern of dots on the shutter curtain evidently was changed
somewhere in the production of the OM-2/OM-2N, does anyone know when (or
what serial number) ?
