All I can say is I just had a used Jobo shipped from BC to Ca.  It cost
me $119 in customs duties, fees and taxes.  I spoke to the customs
broker, they said anything coming in which wasn't made here is subject.
I believe there's a min $$ amt, but I don't know what it is. They did
say it didn't matter if it was made in 1990 or 1890, still had to pay
up. 

I guess if you could find out the min and have the shipper value the
item less than that, you'd skate.  Of course, then you could only insure
it for that amount.
