The Kiron matchmates have a ring that locks onto the protruding rear
bayonet. It has a little finger that holds the stopdown lever so that the
iris will stay at the set aperture. This is better than fidlling with the DOF
button (and also provides some protection for the lens rear), but you
still have to open up and close down with the aperture ring. The ideal
solution would be one with stopdown operated by a cable release to minimize
disturbance of your setup. You could use a double cable like the bellows.
For Canon (oops, C*n*n) EOS, which has electrical stopdown, Novoflex make
a connector to give full auto-diaphragm when reversed.

Don't the OM manual tubes have this little finger? If so, you could put one
on the bayonet to do the job.

BTW, my Kiron is 55mm, not 49.
