Just to be on the safe side you should have some proof of ownership of your
cameras. I usually have a forrm filled out at customs indicating that I am
taking certain photo gear out of my home country. With an official stamp it
will look good.
For the moisture problem, what about some dessicant in dust proof bags and
self-sealing (ZIP Lock here) polyethylene bags to keep your cameras and lens
dry.
With respect to film, it is a good idea to take all the film out of the
boxes. Then, if it is in clear containers, which can be visually
inspected, put the containers in one large ziplock bag (I use the gallon
size bags), or take film out of opaque containers and put in zip lock
bags.
PS: Won't it just be easier to buy an OM3Ti than risking your life by dunking
your OM1 while fording a raging river on your elephant; but then there's the
new wife so the elephant ride it will have to be.
