That depends on the design of the lens. In some lenses (including the Zuikos
I've had apart), the stopdown lever pushes the diaphragm actuator, but in
others, the stopdown lever simply moves something out of the way and allows
a spring to close the diaphragm. In these, oil will indeed cause the
diaphragm to be slow closing. Olympus-mount lenses have an advantage in
checking for this, since the depth-of-field preview button normally pushes
on the same spot the stopdown lever in the lens mount does, so you can check
the operation of the diaphragm without getting your fingers near the rear
element.
