<< Greg, would you please put the OM Adaptall mount onto your lens? Good,
this is now a topic for the list <g>: would you care to describe the
technical data of this lens? It seems to be out of production since I
could find information about it on Tamron web site... How do you rate
this lens vs Zuikos (esp. 180/2.8), optically and mechanically?
  >>

Technical data for the Tamron 180 SP 2.5

Focal length:.......180mm
Aperture Range....f2.5-32
Minimum Focus...3.9 feet
Optical formula.....10 elements/7 groups, 2 LD elements, Internal focusing
Filter size ............77mm
Length.................4 3/4 inches
Weight.................28.2 oz

Comes with a leather pouch and a bayonet lens hood. (note idiosyncrasy -
lens hood has such tight tolerance around the end of the lens that 77mm
polarizer filter, with a slightly larger OD than lens itself, prevents the use
of supplied lens hood)

I really can't compare the Tamron vs the Zuiko 180, since I don't own the
Zuiko, but in general, the Tamron is very well built, all metal, and feels as
solid as my other Zuikos. It is very sharp and contrasty, and I have used it
very effectively as a long macro lens with combinations of either the 1.4
converter or a 25mm extension tube. Either will put you in the 1/3 life size
range, with very nice quality. Really one of my favorite lenses. Only
drawback is that I wish it had a tripod mount.

When I got mine, $400 was the running price (used), and I think it is worth
it. If they are going for $250 now, it is an absolute *steal*.

All the best,
