This questioning reminds me that there is a parallel in the automotive
industry. My examples are American examples, but I'm sure you can find the
parallels in your own country...

Geo Prism and Toyota Carolla are made in the same factory on the same
assembly line. Is your car a Geo or a Toyota? The Dodge Stealth and
Mitsubishi 3000GT are made my Mitsubishi in the same assembly line... is it
a Dodge or a Mitsubishi? The Honda Passport and Isuzu (bless you) Rodeo
were both made by Isuzu-- Honda or Isuzu? Pontiac LeMans is made in
Korea--is it still a Pontiac?

Does any of this matter? I consider the OM2000 to be Olympus. Who cares
what factory it came out of. (Did you know that the majority of bicycles
sold in the Americas are made in three different factories--regardless of
the fact that these factories manufacture for over 300 different brands?).

The fact is Cosina engineered a chassis that other camera manufacturers
could customize to their own specification. This is brilliant, and my hat
is off to the engineers who pulled this one off.

Regardless, the lines are heavily blurred between OEM and Contractor on this
one.
