Yup. The 80 mm Macro is intended for 2:1 through 1:2 reproduction range ONLY.
I sure have had a need for a macro lens in the 1:2 through 1:10 range, so I'd
never consider the 80 mm to be a general purpose macro.
Check the archives from late winter/early spring. We had lots of discussions
on the 80 mm.
